Tūī was designed for our in-house production to fill a gap in our offering. All lights created by our studio are artistic explorations into themes, lifeforms and ideologies. We take great care when adding new products to our lighting collection, rather than just designing a new light for the sake of it. The new piece needs to add another lighting situation to our offering. Tūī has a larger open aperture than our other lights, thus providing more clear downwards light which may be useful to our specifiers in such situations as over a dining table. It also has a softer repeating pattern that may be desirable to our market. The inspiration of our Tūī light comes from the necklace of interwoven rings on the shoulder of the bird. Half rings of bamboo are similarly woven into a basket form.
